What is Kaal Ashtami?
Kaal Ashtami, also known as Kalashtami or Bhairav Ashtami, is observed on the Ashtami (8th day) of Krishna Paksha every month. This day is dedicated to Kaal Bhairav, the fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva who is the guardian of the cardinal directions, the protector of temples, and the lord of time (Kaal).
Significance
Kaal Bhairav is considered the most fearsome and powerful form of Lord Shiva. He punishes the wicked and protects the righteous. Worshipping Kaal Bhairav on Ashtami is believed to destroy enemies, remove fear, and protect against black magic and evil spirits. The annual Kaal Bhairav Jayanti (in Margashirsha month) is the most important Kaal Ashtami of the year.
